![]() ![]() It's hard to find a developer that doesn't know git nowadays - mainly because they all work in my department. I can't tell you anything about TFVC apart from the fact that M$ themselves recommend you to use git if you don't have specific reasons to use TFVC. My project lead who basically didn't touch source code in years is confused as to why git is so complicated just from hearing what my coworkers said. It's just a more sophisticated version control and has a lot of bells and whistles SVN does not have.īut it's also more complicated to use and my coworkers really didn't make any effort to properly learn git. Doing that we integrated into another departments infrastructure and they used git so we did too, I guess.Īs someone who has lots of experience using git I can vouch for git being the better alternative. I think the main reason is actually that we modernized our complete build stack from an old in-house developed proprietary build system, SVN and Cruise-Control to Gradle, Git and Jenkins.
